Start below the revenue line

List product cost, fulfillment, discounts, returns and other relevant costs before choosing a commission. Different products may have very different room for partner incentives. A single rate applied across the catalog can hide important differences in contribution margin.

Consider the creator’s perspective

The offer needs to be understandable and relevant to the effort involved. Product price, audience fit and the ease of demonstrating the item influence a creator’s interest. Commission is one part of the opportunity, alongside product quality, reliable fulfillment and responsive brand support.

Distinguish collaboration types

Organic affiliate posting, paid production and advertising usage are different commitments. Define the commercial terms for each rather than assuming one commission covers all content rights and deliverables. Clear terms reduce misunderstandings when a useful video becomes a paid-media opportunity.

Test offers with context

Record which products, audiences and time periods are associated with an offer. Review activation and actual posting as well as attributed sales. A higher rate may produce interest without sustained activity if the underlying product-to-creator fit is weak.

Review the whole relationship

Strong partners may benefit from better briefs, product access or more consistent communication as much as from a rate change. Use performance reviews to understand what would help them create useful content again. Make commercial changes deliberately and document their scope.
